Introduction:
The Indian civil aviation sector is growing at 25% annually, and IATA estimates that demand will rise to 300 million passengers annually. Orders worth US$ 24 billion for 213 aircrafts were made in 2005. The number of carriers has grown from 2 in 1999 to 11 today; another 12 are awaiting approval. It’s estimated that India’s domestic airlines would need 650 new aircraft by 2012, up from the current 210. Business Aviation (including VLJ`s), Fractional Ownership and Air Charters have tremendous market potential.
Modernization of existing airport infrastructure is ongoing. Phased privatization and modernization is already underway with two metros of Delhi and Mumbai and Chennai , Kolkata and 35 more non metro airports under review .
The "Open Skies Policy" has lifted restrictions on the number of flights and destinations that carriers can operate.
Airport and Airline 2007 Expo is the only event of its kind in the region to focus both on the airline and the airport sector. It is designed to act as the congregation point for an international audience, and thought leaders and decision-makers from the civil aviation industry and government from countries across the world.
We attach herewith a Fact Sheet for your ready reference and request please visit our AA 07 Expo website (www.civilaviationweek.com) for comprehensive details on the event .
Organization Development & Human Resource:
Airport Developers and Operators, Airlines & various other service providers are now faced with the mammoth task of building the critical manpower strength to service this tremendous growth.
Airports:
It is estimated that by 2010, airports in India will require 100,000 trained people to operate and service them across the country. With privatisation of airport operations, operators across the country are relentlessly searching for skilled personnel. Prior to privatization , the only organization having skilled manpower was AAI a strength of 20000 employees.
Airline:
The airlines are also facing severe crunch for trained personnel , both in terms of skilled & experienced pilots , engineers and cabin crew. Presently , there is additional requirement for 2500 more pilots and urgent need to reduce dependence on short term measures like hiring extremely expensive expatriate pilots.
Job Mart -- the Airport & Airline 2007 Expo will have a unique feature --- facilitating an "on the floor hiring program" at the Expo itself . However, manning the respective booths , promotional materials, literatures, hiring documentations etc, wherever applicable, will have to be carried out by the Suppliers and the Recruiters.
